The ExitDoorShield is used to secure an emergency exitdoor
whilst allowing personnel to escape with a one handed operation in the event
of an emergency in accordance with EN179.
The new EN Norms for emergency and panic locks demand that emergency doors have
to be opened with one single grasp, ExitDoorShield satisfies
this requirement.
OPERATION
With the ExitDoorShield in position the door handle is secured. However, in the
event of an emergency the door can be opened by pressing down the door handle
in one single movement which ensures the ExitDoorShield moves
vertically to free the handle. To deter improper use of the ExitDoorShield in
a non emergency situation as soon as the door handle touches the door guard
housing an optional pre alarm can be fitted which warns against unauthorised use. This
pre alarm stops if the handle is released. If the door handle is pushed down
completely a permanent alarm is emitted and people can pass through the emergency
exit door. The ExitDoorShield can then only be reset to its protective position
and the alarm stopped with a key. It is also possible to release the ExitDoorShield
with the key for authorised passage without triggering the alarm.
